Main Street Tax Credit
The Main Street Tax Credit Incentive Program is a unique program offered to registered Main Street communities like Wenatchee.
Established in RCW 82.73., the The Main Street Tax Credit Incentive Program (MSTCIP) provides a Business & Occupation (B&O) or Public Utility tax (PUT) credit for private contributions given to the Wenatchee Downtown Association through the Department of Revenue’s website. Once your business’ donation request is approved by the Department of Revenue, you are eligible for a tax credit worth 75% of the contribution to the Wenatchee Downtown Association. For example, if you pledge $10,000 worth of your state B&O taxes, $7,500 will go directly to the Wenatchee Downtown Association to be reinvested into your historic downtown, instead of the Washington State general fund.
Businesses statewide can also donate to the Main Street Trust Fund for the same 75% of your donation. In fact, a business can donate to up to $250,000. What other program essentially lets you self-direct your business taxes? Further, since the Wenatchee Downtown Association is a 501(c)3 you are eligible for a federal income tax deduction as a charitable contribution.
For more information about the program, including FAQs, and a Step-by-Step Guide to applying through the Department of Revenue’s Website, please visit the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation website below.
We thank you for your continued support to keep our historic downtown vibrant, clean and safe.
